Siri: The New Alice

Siri is the personal assistant you always wanted (in your purse or pocket).

You simply speak or type into the phone with a request like, “Find new restaurants in New York.”  Speech is turned to text and the request is pushed to an appropriate service on the Web.  Not only does it bring back relevant information based on context, time of day, and your location, but it can even make reservations or buy tickets  with your consent.  The possibilities are endless – book a cab, buy baseball tickets, search for family friendly events…Awsome!

The app is now live (and free) in the App Store.

Bosch LiftMatic Oven – So Slick

Something for the next kitchen remodel – The Bosch LiftMatic oven.

Designed for convenient wall mounting, you put food on the oven’s tray, press the button, and Bosch LiftMatic oven will lift it up to your eye level and cook to perfection in several minutes. This oven has a quick-start function that gets it from room temperature to 175 degrees Celsius (347 degrees Fahrenheit) in five minutes. Its ceramic floor is very easy to clean, just wipe it with a damp cloth. The oven can be installed on the wall as a stand-alone or built-in. The lift’s length of travel downwards can be programmed, so that its ceramic glass field always lands exactly on the work surface or dining table. O

A bit pricey at $4,809, but no one can argue that it does not look sleek and stylish. More info from Bosch here.

The BEST Umbrella – SENZ

It’s raining. It’s pouring…

Just get a Senz Storm umbrella! Hooray!  This modern wonder can withstand gale force winds of up to 70 mph – its patented aerodynamic construction and powerful frame prevents it from inverting… really!  It automatically finds the most comfortable position in the wind, much like a weather vane, while ribs in the frame help absorb forces against it, making it nearly indestructible.

We love the ingenious “eye-savers”, designed to protect your eyes from being poked out. This umbrella has it all, it just makes SENZ!

Available in black or red. $60 – $78 depending on size from Unica.

How cute is Chrysler’s new Peapod! No gas. No emissions. And cute to boot!

Global Electric Motorcars is re-branding itself as Global Eco Mobility and introducing the Peapod.  The Peapod will travel travel up to 30 miles at 25 mph on an eight hour charge. Love the enclosed design. What a great way to get the kids around the neighborhood!

I want one for my own garden.  Unfortunately it won’t be available until 2009.
