Alice Temperley’s new collection was a feast of graphic flourishes. Pretty, romantic, bold…

Temperley called her collection “Romantic Odyssey,” a pretty accurate description of the surfeit of ruffles, flounces, and classical draping. There were still outbreaks of that old Temperley sugariness (a floral romper suit, for instance), but the designer was tempered by a new sophistication. That made this a strong collection with which to return home after several seasons showing in New York.

Carolina Herreras’s  Spring 2009 fashion show color palette was show-stopping: bright persimmon paired with hibiscus, teal faille trimmed in tweed and a marigold photo print.

This pretty party frocks in teal mille-feuille chiffon  (below) has the lovely unstructured ease of silk lingerie.

But, my favorites were black and white.

Love the black gown’s effortless silhouette and the simple structure of the white dress below. So feminine and pretty.

A mix of 1960s & 1970s chic, Tory Burch delivers timeless and bold pieces in her Fall 2008 Ready to Wear collection. Her show was held at Christie’s auction house in New York on February 5, 2008. Burch has developed an unusually strong brand, demonstrating once again why thousands of women are hooked on her classics. Myself included!

Her Fall collection is ladylike, but eccentric and quirky.  Tweedy and Hitchcockian, nautical, and a bit Joni Mitchell. Love the peacock-feather and beetle prints, and mix of fabrics/prints.  The clothes are polished, but still fun.
