Inspired by the proto-pop French artist Niki de Saint Phalle, Vera Wang’s Spring 2009 collection was as artsy as ever. More chic than the past seasons, there was still the familiar sheer gazar over-slips and three-dimensional dresses, but the newly inspired narrow “basketball” tanks, skinny cigarette pants and leggings, and pencil skirts were a welcomed sight.

We saw crystalline necklines and necklaces with panels of colorful mosaic-cut sequins cascading down the front of a dress, or wrapping the waist of a skirt that echoed the silvery gray sculpture at the back of the runway. The embelishments were beautiful and artsy, creating depth, texture and shine on otherwise simple ensembles.
Janis Savitt designed the jewelry - luxurious, feminine and timeless!

Love this charcoal and white color-blocked tank dress (below) - so simple and beautiful.

As New York Fashion Week comes to an end, Zac Posen delivered quite an impressive collection to his favorite celebrities at his Spring 2009 show on September 11, 2008.
Posen’s focus strayed from the tailoring of past years to an airy collection of beautiful dresses with a few minis and suede biker jackets.
I can already see these on the gals of Gossip Girl or on Young Hollywood at future red carpet events. Posen is ever young, fun and flirty!

I love the shape of the leopard print and blue stone dresses below.
Light, feminine and inherently sexy. Gorgeous!

Carolina Herreras’s Spring 2009 fashion show color palette was show-stopping: bright persimmon paired with hibiscus, teal faille trimmed in tweed and a marigold photo print.
This pretty party frocks in teal mille-feuille chiffon (below) has the lovely unstructured ease of silk lingerie.
Love the yellow sasha!

But, my favorites were black and white.
Love the black gown’s effortless silhouette and the simple structure of the white dress below. So feminine and pretty.
Spring is certainly all about “The Ruffle.”
